Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Spark plugs

Replacing spark plugs in your Subaru Ascent can be technically challenging due to limited access and engine layout. For this reason, it is recommended to have this service performed by a qualified SUBARU dealer.

Spark plugs should be replaced at the intervals specified in the "Warranty and Maintenance Booklet" to maintain engine efficiency and proper ignition performance.

CAUTION

Ensure that all ignition cables are reconnected in the correct order when servicing spark plugs. Incorrect installation may lead to engine misfires or damage.

Recommended spark plugs

Refer to the "Electrical system" section for the correct spark plug specifications suitable for your Subaru Ascent engine.

Drive belt

Your Subaru Ascent engine is equipped with an automatic belt tensioner, eliminating the need for routine manual adjustment. However, the drive belt should still be inspected and replaced according to the maintenance schedule.

If the belt shows signs of wear, cracking, or looseness, contact your SUBARU dealer for inspection and replacement to prevent potential engine issues.

Continuously variable transmission fluid

The transmission fluid level in your Subaru Ascent does not require regular manual checking. Instead, focus on inspecting for leaks, cracks, or visible damage.

Fluid condition and system checks should be performed at the intervals outlined in the "Warranty and Maintenance Booklet". Always consult your SUBARU dealer for detailed service procedures.

Front differential gear oil and rear differential gear oil

Routine level checks for differential gear oil are not necessary in your Subaru Ascent. However, periodic inspection for leaks or damage is essential to maintain drivetrain reliability.

Gear oil servicing should follow the schedule provided in the "Warranty and Maintenance Booklet". For accurate maintenance, consult your SUBARU dealer.

Recommended grade and viscosity

Each lubricant manufacturer uses specific formulations of base oils and additives. Mixing different brands in your Subaru Ascent is not recommended, as it may compromise lubrication quality and system performance. For detailed specifications, refer to the section on differential gear oil.

CAUTION

Using gear oil that does not meet the specified requirements may negatively impact the performance and longevity of your Subaru Ascent drivetrain components.

Regular inspection and timely replacement of key maintenance components in your Subaru Ascent will help ensure smooth operation, improved efficiency, and long-term reliability.
