Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: SRS airbag system monitors

Subaru Ascent SRS airbag system warning light dashboard indicator overview
SRS airbag system warning light

The Subaru Ascent is equipped with an advanced diagnostic monitoring system that continuously checks the readiness and functionality of the SRS airbag system, including seatbelt pretensioners, whenever the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.

During normal operation in the Subaru Ascent, the SRS airbag warning light will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds when the ignition is turned on. This brief illumination confirms that the system is performing a self-check and operating correctly.

The onboard diagnostic system actively monitors all critical SRS components to ensure they are functioning as intended, helping maintain maximum safety for all occupants.

It is important to note that the Subaru Ascent diagnostic system does not monitor the warning light itself, only the underlying system components.

WARNING

If the SRS airbag warning light in your Subaru Ascent shows any of the following abnormal conditions, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe location and contact an authorized SUBARU dealer. Failure to address these issues may result in the SRS airbag system or seatbelt pretensioners not operating correctly during a collision, increasing the risk of serious injury.
