Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: SRS airbag system servicing
WARNING
- When disposing of an airbag module or scrapping a Subaru Ascent that
has been involved in a collision, always consult an authorized SUBARU dealer
to ensure safe handling and disposal.
- The Subaru Ascent SRS airbag system contains no user-serviceable components.
Never attempt to test, modify, or repair any part of the system yourself. Using
electrical test equipment on SRS circuits or tampering with system wiring can
cause accidental airbag deployment or render the system inoperative, potentially
leading to serious injury.
CAUTION
If maintenance or repairs are required in any of the following areas of the
Subaru Ascent, ensure that all work is performed by a qualified SUBARU dealer. Critical
SRS airbag components, including control modules and sensors, are located in these
zones.
- Under the center section of the instrument panel
- At both front corners of the Subaru Ascent vehicle structure
- Within the steering wheel, steering column, and surrounding components
- At the lower portion of the steering column and nearby areas
- On top of the dashboard on the front passenger side
- Inside and around each front seat
- Within both center pillars (B-pillars)
- Inside each front door panel
- Along the roof sides from the front pillar to above the rear seats
- Between the rear seat cushion and the rear wheel housing on both sides
- Under the second-row center seat area
In the Subaru Ascent, if any SRS airbag has been deployed, the entire system
must be inspected and replaced only by an authorized SUBARU dealer. Always use genuine
Subaru Ascent parts to maintain proper system performance and safety standards.
NOTE
In the following situations involving the Subaru Ascent, contact your SUBARU
dealer as soon as possible for a professional inspection:
- The front section of the Subaru Ascent was involved in an accident,
but the driver's or both front airbags did not deploy.
- The steering wheel pad, front passenger airbag cover, or roof side panels
show signs of damage such as cracks or deformation.
- The center pillar, front doors, rear wheel housing, rear subframe, or
surrounding areas were impacted in an accident where side or curtain airbags
did not deploy.
- The upholstery of the front seatbacks is torn, worn, or otherwise damaged,
potentially affecting airbag deployment.
- The rear section of the Subaru Ascent was involved in a collision without
any airbag deployment.
Maintaining the Subaru Ascent SRS airbag system in proper working condition is
essential for ensuring maximum occupant protection. Regular inspection and professional
servicing help guarantee that all safety systems function correctly in critical
situations.
