Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Automatic door locking/unlocking
In the Subaru Ascent, all doors, the rear gate, and the fuel filler lid can be
automatically locked or unlocked based on specific driving conditions. This intelligent
feature enhances both safety and convenience during everyday vehicle operation.
- For automatic door locking
- In the Subaru Ascent, all doors will automatically lock once the vehicle
reaches a speed of approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), which is the factory
default setting.
- Doors may also lock automatically when the select lever is shifted out
of the "P" (Park) position.
- For automatic door unlocking
- All doors will unlock when the driver’s door is opened (default setting
in the Subaru Ascent).
- When the ignition is switched to the "OFF" position, the system will
automatically unlock the doors.
- Shifting the select lever back into the "P" position will also trigger
automatic unlocking.
NOTE
- The automatic locking and unlocking settings in the Subaru Ascent can
be customized via the center information display. Refer to the "Car settings"
menu for configuration options.
- If the Subaru Ascent doors are locked manually using the power door
locking switches, the automatic locking function will not activate.
- Similarly, manually unlocking the doors will disable the automatic unlocking
function for that operation cycle.
- When exiting the Subaru Ascent through a rear door, always unlock all
doors using the power door unlocking switch. If a rear door is unlocked manually
and then opened and closed, the key lock-in prevention system may activate.
In such cases, all doors will automatically unlock, the warning indicator
"
"
will appear, and an audible warning chime will sound.
- In the event of a collision where the Subaru Ascent detects sufficient
impact force to deploy airbags, all doors will automatically unlock to assist
occupant exit and emergency response.
For more details, refer to "Automatic door locking/unlocking operation
when involved in an accident".
