How to use the lock lever

Before driving your Subaru Ascent, always ensure that all doors and the rear gate are securely closed.
A visible red indicator appears on the lock lever when the door is unlocked, providing a quick visual confirmation.
To open an unlocked door, pull the inside handle. On Subaru Ascent front doors, pulling the handle will unlock and open the door even if it is locked.
WARNING
In combination with seatbelts and child restraint systems, locked doors help prevent occupants from being ejected during a collision.
It also reduces the risk of accidental door opening and protects against unauthorized entry into your Subaru Ascent.
CAUTION
Do not pull the inside door handle while simultaneously operating the door lock mechanism in the Subaru Ascent. This may interfere with proper locking or unlocking and could damage the mechanism.
How to operate the power door locking switches
The Subaru Ascent is equipped with power door locking switches located on both the driver’s and front passenger’s doors, allowing centralized control of all locks.

Example
NOTE
Before locking your Subaru Ascent using the power door locking switches from outside, always double-check that the key or access key fob is not left inside the vehicle.
Proper understanding of Subaru Ascent door lock functions ensures enhanced safety, improved security, and convenient everyday vehicle operation.
