WARNING
CAUTION
In such cases, the rear gate may still move slightly depending on its position. Ensure no one is near the rear gate to prevent injury.
If the Subaru Ascent rear gate encounters an obstacle while opening or closing, the system will emit three warning beeps and react as follows:
When opening: The rear gate will automatically reverse and begin closing.
When closing: The rear gate will automatically reverse and reopen.

The Subaru Ascent touch sensors are located on both sides of the rear gate. If they detect contact with fingers, cargo, or other objects during closing, the system will immediately reverse direction to prevent injury.
NOTE
When activated, the Subaru Ascent reverse function will open the rear gate either fully or to the stored memory height.
Rear gate auto closure function
If the Subaru Ascent rear gate is fully open and begins to lower due to external forces such as snow weight, the system will automatically apply braking force to prevent sudden or rapid closure.

This audible signal can be disabled via the center information display (for models with keyless access) or adjusted by a SUBARU dealer.
The Subaru Ascent audible signal settings are shared with the remote keyless entry system and keyless access system for consistent user experience.
