Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Rear seat reminder

The Subaru Ascent is equipped with a rear seat reminder system designed to help drivers check for passengers or items left in the rear seats before exiting the vehicle.

This feature is activated when the rear doors of the Subaru Ascent are opened and closed prior to driving.

When the ignition is switched from "ON" to "OFF", the system alerts the driver through warning messages displayed on the combination meter (color LCD) along with audible beeps.

NOTE

• The Subaru Ascent rear seat reminder does not directly detect the presence of passengers or cargo.
• The system operates based on rear door activity. As a result, the following situations may occur.
  • The system may issue a reminder even if no passengers or cargo are present.
  • The system may not issue a reminder even if passengers or cargo remain in the rear seats.
• The rear seat reminder function in the Subaru Ascent can be enabled or disabled through the "Car settings" menu.
• The ON/OFF setting remains unchanged even after the ignition is turned off.
• If the vehicle battery is disconnected, the system settings will revert to default.

The Subaru Ascent rear seat reminder system adds an additional layer of safety and awareness, helping prevent accidental oversight of passengers or belongings.
