When parking your Subaru Ascent, it is essential to follow proper procedures to ensure maximum safety and prevent unintended vehicle movement. Always complete the following actions before leaving the vehicle.

• Firmly engage the parking brake to secure the Subaru Ascent.
• Shift the select lever into the "P" (Park) position to lock the transmission.

Never rely solely on the transmission’s internal resistance to hold the Subaru Ascent in place, as this may not provide sufficient stability, especially on slopes.

When parking the Subaru Ascent on an uphill incline, always turn the front wheels away from the curb. This precaution helps prevent the vehicle from rolling into traffic if it begins to move.

When parking facing downhill, turn the front wheels toward the curb so that the Subaru Ascent will roll safely into the curb rather than into the roadway if movement occurs.

• Never leave children or pets unattended inside the Subaru Ascent.

  They may unintentionally operate vehicle controls or be exposed to dangerous temperatures, especially in hot weather, which can lead to severe injury or death.

• If you intend to rest or sleep inside the Subaru Ascent, always turn off the engine.

  Exhaust gases, including carbon monoxide (CO), may enter the cabin and cause serious harm or fatal poisoning.

CAUTION

• If your Subaru Ascent is equipped with a lower bumper guard or underspoiler, be cautious when parking near curbs, blocks, or obstacles.

  Contact with such objects may damage the lower body components.

• The parking brake alone may not provide sufficient holding force under extreme conditions, such as parking on steep inclines while towing.
