NOTE
This section applies specifically to the following Subaru Ascent components.

When the pretensioners in the Subaru Ascent are activated, a brief operating sound may be heard, and a small amount of smoke may be released.
These effects are completely normal and harmless, indicating that the safety system has functioned as intended. The smoke does not indicate a fire within the vehicle.
Once activated, the Subaru Ascent pretensioner system locks the seatbelt permanently. As a result, the seatbelt cannot be extended or retracted and must be replaced by a qualified technician.
Shoulder belt pretensioner
The shoulder belt pretensioner in the Subaru Ascent rapidly retracts the seatbelt to remove slack when a significant impact force is detected during frontal, side, or rollover accidents. This immediate tightening improves occupant restraint and reduces forward movement.
Additionally, the Subaru Ascent is equipped with an adaptive force limiter integrated into the shoulder belt system. This feature helps control the amount of force applied to the occupant, reducing potential injury during high-impact collisions.
The adaptive force limiter adjusts the load based on the occupant’s body size, as detected by the occupant detection system, particularly for the front passenger seat in the Subaru Ascent.
Lap belt pretensioner
The lap belt pretensioner in the Subaru Ascent works in conjunction with the shoulder belt system and is located near the base of the center pillar.
This component instantly tightens the lap belt during a frontal collision, removing slack and ensuring that the occupant is held securely in place. Together, the lap and shoulder pretensioners provide a coordinated response to improve overall safety performance.
The advanced pretensioner system in the Subaru Ascent plays a critical role in occupant protection, working seamlessly with airbags and other safety features to deliver максимальний рівень безпеки під час кожної поїздки.
