Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Replacing bulbs

WARNING

Lighting bulbs in your Subaru Ascent can become extremely hot during operation. Always switch off the lights and allow sufficient time for the bulbs to cool before attempting replacement. Failure to do so may result in burns or injury.

CAUTION

Always replace bulbs in your Subaru Ascent with new ones of the correct specified wattage. Installing bulbs with incorrect ratings may lead to overheating, electrical issues, or even fire hazards. Refer to the "Bulb chart" for proper specifications.

Headlights

Your Subaru Ascent is equipped with LED headlights. If a malfunction occurs, the LED headlight warning light will illuminate on the instrument panel.

Since LED systems require specialized servicing, have your Subaru Ascent inspected and repaired by an authorized SUBARU dealer as soon as possible.

Front turn signal light

1. Using a screwdriver, carefully release the clips securing the air intake duct and remove it to gain access to the bulb housing.

2. Remove the clip securing the washer fluid tank and gently reposition the filler neck to improve access to the turn signal bulb.

3. Rotate the bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight assembly of your Subaru Ascent.

4. Install a new bulb, taking care not to touch the glass surface, as oils from your skin may shorten bulb life.

5. Insert the new bulb into the housing and turn it clockwise until it locks securely.

6. Reinstall the air intake duct and secure it with clips (right-hand side).

7. Return the washer tank to its original position and fasten it with the clip (left-hand side).

Rear combination lights

1. Remove the protective covers to access the mounting points of the rear light assembly.

2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the upper and lower screws securing the rear combination light unit.

3. Carefully pull the rear combination light assembly straight backward to detach it from the body.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector attached to the assembly.

5. Remove the bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise.

6. Pull out the old bulb and replace it with a new one of the correct specification.

7. Reinstall the socket into the assembly and turn it clockwise until secure.

8. Reconnect the electrical connector.

9. Reinstall the rear combination light assembly by aligning the guide pins and clips with the corresponding mounting points on your Subaru Ascent.

10. Secure the assembly by tightening the screws.

11. Reattach the protective covers.

License plate light

1. Push the license plate light inward and then pull it outward to remove it from the mounting area.

2. Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise and remove it.

3. Pull the bulb out of the socket and replace it with a new one.

4. Install the new bulb securely.

5. Reinstall the socket and housing back into place.

Other bulbs

Replacing certain bulbs in your Subaru Ascent may be complex due to limited access and component design.

If necessary, it is recommended to have these bulbs replaced by a qualified SUBARU dealer to ensure proper installation and avoid damage.

Proper maintenance and timely replacement of lighting components in your Subaru Ascent ensure optimal visibility, safety, and compliance with road regulations in all driving conditions.
