Access key fob

Transmitter
The Subaru Ascent remote keyless entry system provides convenient and secure control over multiple vehicle functions, allowing drivers to manage access and safety features remotely.
The typical operating range of the Subaru Ascent remote keyless entry system is approximately 30 feet (10 meters). However, actual performance may vary depending on surrounding environmental conditions and signal interference.
The operating range may be reduced in areas with strong electromagnetic activity, such as near power stations, broadcast towers, or other electronic devices that emit radio signals.
NOTE
If desired, the hazard light confirmation feature in the Subaru Ascent can be disabled via the center information display settings.
Locking the doors
Press the lock/arm button on the Subaru Ascent key fob to secure all doors, the rear gate, and the fuel filler lid. A single electronic chirp will sound, and the hazard lights will flash once to confirm successful locking.
If any door or the rear gate is not fully closed, the Subaru Ascent system will alert you as follows:
Once the door or rear gate is properly closed, the Subaru Ascent will automatically complete the locking process and provide confirmation:
Unlocking the doors
Press the unlock/disarm button on the Subaru Ascent remote transmitter to unlock the driver’s door and the fuel filler lid. Two electronic chirps will sound, and the hazard lights will flash twice.
To unlock all doors and the rear gate, press the unlock/disarm button again within 5 seconds. This two-step unlocking feature enhances security by allowing selective access.
NOTE
The Subaru Ascent remote keyless entry system is designed for both convenience and safety, ensuring quick access while maintaining protection against unauthorized entry. Understanding these functions helps maximize usability and enhances everyday driving comfort.
If the time interval between the first and second presses of the unlock/disarm button on your Subaru Ascent key fob is extremely short, the system may not properly recognize the command, and full unlocking of all doors and the rear gate may not occur.
Unlocking the rear gate
To unlock the rear gate of your Subaru Ascent independently, press the dedicated rear gate unlock button on the remote transmitter.
Upon successful operation, the Subaru Ascent will emit two electronic chirps and the hazard warning flashers will blink twice, confirming that the rear gate has been unlocked.
Selecting hazard warning flasher operation
The Subaru Ascent uses hazard warning flashers to provide visual confirmation when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. This feature enhances user awareness and convenience.
If desired, the hazard warning flash function can be disabled or customized through the center information display. Additional configuration options are available through an authorized SUBARU dealer.
Vehicle finder function
The Subaru Ascent is equipped with a convenient vehicle locator feature, allowing you to easily find your car in crowded parking areas.
When within approximately 30 feet (10 meters) of the Subaru Ascent, press the lock/arm button three times within 5 seconds. The vehicle will respond by sounding the horn once and flashing the hazard lights three times, helping you quickly identify its location.
NOTE
If the presses of the lock/arm button are performed too quickly, the Subaru Ascent system may not detect the input sequence and the vehicle finder function may not activate.
Sounding a panic alarm
To activate the Subaru Ascent panic alarm, press the "PANIC" button on the remote transmitter once.
The system will immediately trigger the horn and flash the hazard warning lights, providing a strong visual and audible alert.
To deactivate the panic alarm, press any button on the Subaru Ascent key fob. If no input is given, the alarm will automatically stop after approximately 30 seconds.
Setting audible signal operation
The Subaru Ascent provides audible feedback through electronic chirps when locking and unlocking the vehicle, enhancing usability and confirming successful operations.
Models with "keyless access with push-button start system": If desired, the audible confirmation signal in the Subaru Ascent can be turned off via the center information display. Additionally, the volume of the signal can be adjusted by a SUBARU dealer according to user preference.
Models without "keyless access with push-button start system": To disable or enable the audible signal, follow the procedure below. The same steps can be used to restore the function.

After completing the process, the Subaru Ascent hazard warning flashers will blink three times to confirm that the setting has been successfully applied.
If preferred, this configuration can also be performed by your authorized SUBARU dealer.
Replacing the battery
For instructions on replacing the Subaru Ascent key fob battery, refer to the section "Replacing key battery" in your owner's manual.
Replacing lost transmitters
If a Subaru Ascent remote transmitter is lost or if additional transmitters are required (up to four can be programmed), it is recommended to reprogram all transmitters for security purposes.
To ensure proper synchronization and security, contact your SUBARU dealer to have all Subaru Ascent transmitters correctly registered within the system.
