Cleaning ventilation grille

Subaru Ascent front ventilation grille location for cleaning

  1. Front ventilation inlet grille

To maintain optimal performance of the Subaru Ascent climate system, always keep the ventilation inlet grille free from snow, debris, leaves, or dirt. Blockages can reduce heating efficiency and impair defrosting capability.

Since the condenser is positioned in front of the radiator, it should also be kept clean. Accumulated debris or insects can negatively affect cooling efficiency in the Subaru Ascent.

Efficient cooling after parking in direct sunlight

After the Subaru Ascent has been parked under direct sunlight, open the windows for a short period while driving to allow hot air to escape. This will significantly improve cooling performance once the air conditioning system is activated. For best results, close all windows after initial ventilation to maximize cooling efficiency.

Lubrication oil circulation in the refrigerant circuit

To maintain proper lubrication of internal components in the Subaru Ascent air conditioning system, run the compressor at low engine speed for a few minutes each month, even during colder seasons.

Checking air conditioning system before summer season

Before the onset of warm weather, inspect the Subaru Ascent air conditioning system for leaks, worn hoses, or reduced performance. It is recommended to have the system checked by an authorized SUBARU dealer to ensure reliable operation.

Cooling and dehumidifying in high humidity and low temperature weather conditions

Under certain environmental conditions, such as high humidity combined with low temperatures, a small amount of vapor may be visible from the air outlets of the Subaru Ascent. This is a normal occurrence and does not indicate a malfunction.

Air conditioner compressor shut-off when engine is heavily loaded

To improve engine performance and fuel efficiency, the Subaru Ascent may temporarily disable the air conditioning compressor during heavy acceleration or when climbing steep inclines. This ensures optimal power delivery when needed.

Refrigerant for your climate control system

Subaru Ascent air conditioner refrigerant label R1234yf location

  1. Air conditioner label

The Subaru Ascent uses environmentally friendly refrigerant R-1234yf (HFO-1234yf), designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high cooling performance.

Before servicing or refilling the system, always verify the refrigerant type using the label shown in the illustration. Using incorrect refrigerant can lead to system damage.

For all service and maintenance procedures, consult an authorized SUBARU dealer. Damage caused by the use of incorrect refrigerant is not covered under warranty.

The Subaru Ascent climate system combines comfort features such as seat heating, ventilation, and advanced air conditioning control to deliver a refined driving experience in all weather conditions.
