Front seatbelts
1. Adjust the seating position in the Subaru Ascent according to the following guidelines.
Driver's seat: Set the seatback to an upright position and move the seat as far back from the steering wheel as possible while maintaining full control of the vehicle.
Front passenger's seat: Adjust the seatback upright and move the seat as far back as practical to maximize safety.
2. Sit firmly against the seatback.
3. Take the tongue plate and pull the seatbelt out slowly, ensuring that it is not twisted.

4. Insert the tongue plate into the buckle until a clear click is heard, confirming proper fastening.

5. Tighten the lap portion of the belt by pulling upward on the shoulder section.
6. Ensure that the lap belt in the Subaru Ascent is positioned low across the hips and not across the waist for optimal protection.
Adjusting the front seat shoulder belt anchor height

The shoulder belt anchor in the Subaru Ascent should be adjusted to suit the driver's or passenger's height. The belt should pass comfortably over the middle of the shoulder without contacting the neck.
To raise: Pull the release knob and slide the anchor upward.
To lower: Pull the release knob and slide the anchor downward.
After adjustment, pull down on the anchor to confirm it is securely locked in place.
WARNING
Always ensure that the shoulder belt in the Subaru Ascent does not run across the neck. If it does, adjust the anchor to a lower position. Incorrect positioning can cause serious neck injuries in the event of sudden braking or a collision.
Unfastening the seatbelt

1. Press the button on the buckle to release the seatbelt.
2. Allow the seatbelt to retract slowly to prevent tangling or twisting.
Before closing the door, ensure that the seatbelt is fully retracted to avoid it being caught in the door.
