Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: General precautions regarding SRS airbag system for accessories and any objects

WARNING
- Never place any objects (including straps, cords, decorative items, or
electronic accessories) on or around the steering wheel pad, steering column
cover, or dashboard area of your Subaru Ascent.
- Such items can become entangled with steering components, potentially
restricting steering control and preventing the SRS frontal airbag system
from deploying correctly in a collision.
- In the event of airbag deployment, loose or attached objects may
be forcefully projected inside the cabin, significantly increasing the risk
of injury to occupants.
- Avoid placing any objects underneath the driver's side instrument panel.
During deployment of the Subaru Ascent SRS knee airbag, these items may obstruct
its operation or be violently propelled, leading to serious injuries.
- Do not attach keys to heavy, rigid, or sharp accessories. If the Subaru
Ascent knee airbag deploys, such objects can interfere with proper function
and may be thrown toward the driver, posing a high injury risk.

WARNING
Do not mount accessories on the windshield or install oversized mirrors over
the interior rearview mirror. In the Subaru Ascent, SRS airbag deployment may turn
these objects into dangerous projectiles capable of causing severe or fatal injuries.

WARNING
- Do not attach accessories to door panels or position objects near the
Subaru Ascent SRS side airbags. Upon deployment, these items may be propelled
toward occupants with significant force, increasing the likelihood of injury.
- Never install hands-free microphones or any accessories on pillars (A,
B, or C), windshield edges, side windows, assist grips, or any surfaces adjacent
to curtain airbags. During deployment in the Subaru Ascent, these items may
either block correct airbag function or be ejected violently into the cabin.

WARNING
Do not hang coat hangers, sharp objects, or rigid items on coat hooks. During
curtain airbag deployment in the Subaru Ascent, such items can detach and be thrown
across the cabin or interfere with airbag expansion, causing severe injuries.
Before placing clothing on coat hooks, ensure all pockets are empty of hard
or pointed objects. Always hang garments directly without using hangers to maintain
optimal SRS airbag safety performance in your Subaru Ascent.

- Do not drape clothing or place any objects over the front seatbacks,
and avoid attaching labels or stickers near side airbag zones. These may obstruct
proper deployment of the Subaru Ascent SRS side airbags and reduce occupant
protection.
- Only install seat covers specifically designed and approved for Subaru
Ascent models equipped with SRS airbags. Improperly installed or incompatible
covers may prevent correct airbag deployment and compromise safety systems.
For maximum safety in the Subaru Ascent, always maintain clear airbag deployment
zones and avoid adding aftermarket accessories that could interfere with SRS functionality.
Proper awareness and correct placement of objects inside the vehicle significantly
improve occupant protection during unexpected collisions.
